Summer is in full swing at the Jersey Shore; and by the Jersey Shore I’m not talking about the stereotypical “fist pumping” view that many have about it.  I’m referring to the REAL Jersey Shore; small towns like Belmar, Spring Lake, Sea Girt, Manasquan, and Point Pleasant where you will find great places to stay, dine, and of course indulge in the occasional drink.  You won’t be able to walk or drive anywhere without seeing groups of young locals riding their beach cruisers to and from the beach.  You can be a “guest local” yourself by taking a quick weekend escape to the place where many of us call the greatest place to live. 

            My personal recommendations for places to stay would be the Inn On Main in Manasquan (Avg. nightly rate $169-$239 in the summer season) and The Chateau Inn and Suites in Spring Lake (Avg. nightly rate $219-$329 in the summer season).  Both of these beautiful Inns are steps from the local train stations, town centers, and beaches.  The Chateau provides Continental Breakfast for it’s guests for only $6.99; and a new BYOB restaurant, Firefly, just opened below the Inn on Main.  It is a definite hit so make sure to call ahead!             The Parker House is a local gem located a block from Sea Girt Beach.  They have great food specials including mini cheeseburgers, steak and sausage sandwiches for $1.75 and 1 lb. lobsters for $8.95 at the raw bar among other tasty off the beach eats.  They are also home to $1 Bud and Bud Lites on Friday nights from 6-9 p.m.  Or head on over to Union Landing, The Sand Bar or The River House in Brielle- three of the Jersey Shore’s best kept secrets within steps of each other!
